Chef Shawn Loving, Executive Chef at the Detroit Athletic Club, achieved the esteemed title of Certified Master Chef (CMC) through the American Culinary Federation (ACF) after passing one of the most challenging exams in the culinary world. Held from September 30 to October 7, 2017, at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan, this rigorous eight-day test is the ultimate benchmark for culinary skill, knowledge, and creativity in the U.S.
Chef Loving, along with nine other accomplished chefs, was tested in a variety of culinary disciplines, including healthy cooking, buffet catering, classical and global cuisines, freestyle cooking, baking and pastry, Northern European cuisine, and a "market basket" challenge—an exercise requiring candidates to create a five-course meal from a mystery selection of ingredients. Each chef was required to maintain a daily average score of 75 out of 100, with evaluations based on precision, presentation, and taste.

Earning the CMC title reflects Chef Loving’s dedication to excellence and positions him among the highest-ranking chefs in the nation.
