Meet The Chef

Chef Shawn Loving has carved out a distinct name for himself in the culinary world. From 2007 to 2021, he led Schoolcraft College’s renowned Culinary Arts program as Department Chair, shaping the next generation of chefs. Currently, Chef Loving serves as the Executive Chef at the prestigious Detroit Athletic Club.

With a career spanning over 30 years, Chef Loving has built an impressive portfolio. His experience includes working for the Walt Disney Company at Epcot Center in Florida, owning and operating the acclaimed Loving Spoonful restaurant in Farmington Hills, and serving as a nutritional advisor and personal chef for the Detroit Pistons. He also held the esteemed role of Executive Chef for the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Olympic Basketball Teams during the 2008 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Most recently, Chef Loving partnered with the NBA to oversee culinary operations during the 2020 season in the “Bubble.”

Chef Loving’s talents have been recognized by the American Culinary Federation, earning him numerous awards and medals. His most prestigious achievement to date is attaining the title of Certified Master Chef, a distinction held by only 72 chefs in the nation. This honor represents the pinnacle of culinary expertise, often considered the equivalent of a Ph.D. in the culinary world.

Beyond his achievements, Chef Loving remains dedicated to mentoring young chefs and advancing the culinary arts with passion and innovation.
